Boredom Killer – The Snake Game

Every second of every day people are bored. People are waiting in line at the movies, waiting for a bus, or a subway, and others are just waiting for class or a meeting to start. Some people sit at their desk in class or work and pretend to be there, passing the time by playing games on any type of media they can. One such game that is on almost every type of electronic device that has games is known as the “Snake Game”. The best snake game available online can be found right here!

No one really knows where this game originated from, but it has been responsible for claiming countless billions of hours from Americans, and surely other developed countries. You can play the snake game on all types of electronics, cell phones, graphing calculators, and just about anything that can access the internet. There are even versions for the new ipod touch, ipad and other mp3 players.

The snake game is a fairly simple game to play. The player controls a snake comprised of a few blocks. As the player goes on, more blocks appear for the snake to eat. Eating these blocks makes the snake another block bigger. From here the game kind of plays out like the bike scene from the movie tron. Running the head of the snake into any part of the body will kill the snake and end the game. There are many variations however. In some of these games you have a set number of lives, so running into the snake isn’t a really big issue. Often times these games will have “levels”, with each level introducing a new type of terrain to add to the mess and confusion of the player. Some games will even allow you to “leave” the playing map, much like in the game miss pac-man, only to appear on the other side of the screen. Another variation introduces time limits, you must grow your snake to a certain length in so many seconds or minutes. This really adds a lot of pressure to the player!

In the more simple forms of the snake game, players score by having longer snakes. Sometimes you get points for each block, while others just count the blocks as the score. In slightly more advanced games, there are bonus things that appear for a shorter period of time that will increase your score. In other games there is no score, you start with a snake length of say 3, and you must get to a set number of blocks before you can pass on to the next level.

If you’re interested in playing the snake game, check your phone. Chances are the game is already pre-installed! If not, google for free flash games and you should find a version. On the other hand if you have a smart phone, check out the app store, there is bound to be dozens of snake game variations, all with their own challenges to keep things interesting.
